How Now June Moon

The Greeble had a bluish stick, an azure wand had he
And waved it smartly back and forth with due alacrity.
But on the 4th of March it was, or maybe 12th of June,
He waved it to excess and spoilt a picnic on the moon.

The ruler of that lunar feast decried the reckless deed
And swiftly going into one, a pogrom he decreed:
"Let every Bilch and every Grum take note of what I say
For there will be a formal test before the close of play.

Take up your arms! Let down your ears! And count from one to three!
Now turn your faces to the Earth and grimace horridly!"
The dreadful punishment begun, it quickly proved too much
For twenty-seven nuns and several hedgehogs learning Dutch.

But fortunately for the Greeble
Its effect on him was feeble
He was dancing on the phone
And leaving poetry alone.
